What is an MX record?
MX records represent the mail server associated with your domain.
How long does it take before a DNS change is active?
After 24/48 hours of the change.
Can I create C-NAME that direct to records external to the domain?
Yes, using the DNS Full Managemen option.
How can I reset the original DNS configuration after having configured Register.it DNS?
You can reset the original DNS configuration by clicking the link 'Restore original configurations' in the DNS page of your control panel.
Can I create the same A record and make it direct to different IP (round robin)?
Yes, using the DNS Full Management option.
What is an Arecord?(Address Record)?
An Arecord represents the IP address (static!) to which you can direct your domain or one of your subdomains.
Is it possible to use an external mail server changing the MX record?
Yes, please carefully consider that for the domain names whose MX record is set up to an external mail server since more than 7 days, Register.it will delete the relevant mailboxes and their contents.
What is a Cname (Canonical Name Record)?
Unlike Arecords, Canmes do not direct to an IP address, but to Arecords or other existing cnames that have already been configured for your domain. They be used to create ‘alias’ of your domain or subfolders for your subdomains, that you can direct to different web spaces.
Can I configure Register.it DNS before registering or transferring a domain to Register.it?
It is not possible to access Register.it DNS configuration before registering a domain. For transfer requests, you can access the DNS configuration right after your order has been submitted and before the it has been completed, except in the case of no-provider-maintainer reactivation or in the case the domain is already being maintained by Register.it.
Why do I need to configure my DNS?
Register.it offers he option of configuring your own DNS and of maintaining the domain on its DNS and direct the WEB and/or the email service to another server.
Can I configure a third level MX to manage addresses such as info@mail.nomedominio.ext?
Yes, using the DNS Full MAnagement option.
Can I manage the reverse lookup?
No, it is not yet possible to manage it. Our Clients will be informed as soon as it becomes possible.
What configurations can I set up on Register.it DNS?
The only configurations provided are those listed in the DNS section of your control panel. If you wish to access a more advanced DNS management, you can use "DNS Full Management". We suggest you to use the "DNS Full Management" service only if you have a good technical knowledge about DNS configuration.
Misconfigured DNS records or any kind of mistake you do in this configuration, could make your domain or its associated services not work.
